Are You a Trend Setter?…Or a Trend Follower?
By leadership author and keynote speaker Ross Shafer
I think we spend too much time trying to “set trends” and be original…unless you are a pure “artist.” Artists create and express themselves without considering the commercial value of their art. I admire that kind of innate originality. However, ff you want to be intentionally successful in enterprise, you will do well to watch for trends and find a way to leverage the trend for your own commercial success. My friend and business associate Michael Burger, noticed a book genre trend. He read that “coloring books” were the top selling books today. So much so that the factories that manufactured colored pencils were back-ordered for a month. The more he dug in the more Michael discovered that our stressful society enjoys coloring books to relax. The jury was in. Michael got the idea to write his own version of a coloring book…a coloring book that didn’t exist yet. Click on the link below to watch our video interview to see what he did and who is buying it.
