Here’s a problem that probably keeps you up at night. What do you do about those people in your organization who aren’t productive? The ones who are just not pulling their own weight? I’ll pass along a profound tip I learned from Jack Welch – the former CEO of General Electric…which is incidentally the largest company in the world! In Jack’s words “I made it a practice to routinely fire the bottom 10% of our workforce. But you know what, it was never a surprise to anybody. They knew if they were in the bottom 10% they weren’t performing. Chances are they didn’t like their job anyway. We let them go with dignity and everybody moves on the way they should.” If you have people like that in your organization…you could be doing them a HUGE favor by cutting them loose. This is controversial, I know….so I’d love to hear your comments. What have you done in this situation? Maybe it’s time to face reality. This is Ross Shafer for The Relevant Report.
